Today we share with you the lovely lakeside marriage proposal of Nick and Devin so come along and be inspired!
Iceland Helicopter Drop Off
A proposal in Iceland can be anything you want it to be. And over the last 10+ years we have all kinds of requests from simple to elaborate. For instance, we’ve had all kinds from a proposal in a cave, frozen lake ice cave proposal, helicopter proposals, to sea cliff proposals. No matter the location, we will devise the best plan and give you all the insights into when and how to do it! To illustrate, Nick came to our Iceland Wedding Planner team 4 months before he intended on popping the question. He very specifically was looking to have the “best surprise engagement” so his girlfriend of 6 years, Devin would feel special and be astonished by the experience.
However, they had a very action packed schedule which did not have a ton of flexibility. And were staying at the luxurious Hvammsvik Estate, which is quite far from our base in South Iceland. Therefore, in order to maximize their time, a helicopter came into play to drop them off at their Iceland proposal location. How fun is that though?! Imagine your lover whisks you away on an evening helicopter tour and then tells you you’re going to dinner afterwards! #yesplease! Our helicopter partner, Norðurflug made it happen regardless of the crazy ever changing April weather!
Lakeside Iceland Proposal
Upon arriving, we’re pretty sure that Devin didn’t even notice our Iceland proposal photographer snapping away as they were landing and checking out the lake. Nick led her over to one of the rock formations, got down on one knee, and proposed a lifetime of traveling and adventuring together! Devin said yes, hugged and kissed him profusely and realized he had organized this lifetime moment to be forever documented!
Snowy April Engagement Session
The marriage proposal in Iceland transitioned into an engagement photo session. For example, lots of giggles and intimate moments, ensued. Just when Devin thought that was it and they were done and ready to fly to Reykjavik for dinner part three of the Iceland proposal adventure begins…
Sister’s Surprise!
Nick decided it would be extra special to add on a luxury picnic AND fly in her sisters for this monumental moment. How sweet, right?! Therefore, our Iceland proposal team had setup the picnic in a small cave alongside the lake. To illustrate, it was also the perfect place for the sisters to hide and surprise Devin! So Kevin took her hand (as we previously discussed with him) and led her around the corner to see what else awaited her… To say she was surprised was an understatement! The group celebrated with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot!!
Cave Luxury Picnic
No better way to honor your newly engaged status than snuggling up in front of a fire and lavish picnic! The group enjoyed Icelandic cheeses, meats, crackers, and pastries.
