First, we need to rewind back to 2012 when the pair sat next to each other at a talent show and meet for the first time. But then as we all know, life happens and seven years pass between them. Second, when 2017 comes they happened to reconnect during a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class. With that their hearts ignited again!
Third, they faired through Covid, long distance as Marion pursued her PHD credentials, and came back together to build an incredible life together. Fourth, during a trip to Boston Jared proposed but playfully played a prank on her at the same time. To illustrate, he pretended to drop the fabulous ring into the harbor and apparently was extremely convincing!
Furthermore, since Iceland is on their wanderlust list, it was a no brainer they pair the experience with eloping. After all planning a moody Iceland elopement spoke to their non-traditional style and vibe.
Eloping in Iceland on September 6th 2023
The moody Iceland elopement began on September 6th 2023, with quiet anticipation. Jared and Marion got ready together with our Iceland hair and makeup team. Next, they slipped into their wedding attire, which is a stunning contrast… For example, Jared’s burgundy suit and Marion’s stunning black wedding dress and charismatic blue hair! Slightly before they loaded into the super jeep for the day they grabbed their go bags and headed down to meet each other for an intimate first look.
From Showers to Forever
Meanwhile, the September wedding weather was super rainy but they brought their own sunshine in their smiles to each other! Additionally, as they embark on their moody Iceland elopement, Marion may or may not have transposed her wedding vows on the way. After a short hike through desolate landscape and around dead ice kettles, they arrived to their black ice cave, how fitting right?!
Moody Iceland Elopement at a Black Ice Cave
Within an outlet of Iceland’s 4th largest glacier, Jared and Marion hold their emotional ice cave wedding ceremony. Firstly, the scene was set with a fire to create a stellar yet non-traditional ambiance. Secondly, our favorite Pastor centered them in the experience. Thirdly, they professed their lifetime love to each other in personal vows. Fourthly, they exchanged wedding rings and celebrated the new connection with a kiss!
Meanwhile, special note… It was raining super hard outside the cave but also because of the above freezing temps and the fire inside the cave it was also melting inside of the cave! In fact, you might notice that that the cave is black because sand is merged with it. So with each drip, it could be included offering a slightly dirty earthy experience!
Half Day Elopement Adventure
After their moody Iceland elopement ceremony, Jared and Marion embraced the spirit of adventure that had brought them to Iceland in the first place. They explored the ice cave inside and out! Simply marveling over the rawness Mother Nature creates and our local Iceland wedding photographer captured it all! Furthermore, since the pair opted in for a half day elopement adventure (5-6ish hours of adventure), they really wanted to enjoy time exploring around.
Raindrops & Romance
After wandering through the black ice cave, exploring the outside of it, and crossing multiple rivers by foot the pair embrace the moment. After all, how dreamy is it to cuddle up and adventure together in the rain in such an epic wedding locations? Likely, you’ll get that “earned it” feeling after! Talk about the definition of a moody Iceland elopement, right?!
Drenched in Love at an Iceland Waterfall
Next, on their moody Iceland elopement they embarked on another aw inspiring hike to an incredibly tall waterfall. To illustrate, it is here they stood beneath the cascading waters of a majestic waterfall in the highlands. Meanwhile, the misty rain added to the days ambiance. Laughing and dancing to the cascading sounds really amplified the experience to another level!
