Half-day September Iceland Elopement: Melanie + Peter

Does an exciting September Iceland elopement full of hiking to unique waterfalls sound like the BEST DAY EVER?!  A day you spend adventuring together.  All while holding hands, stealing kisses, being silly, and celebrating exactly how you want to!  No outside pressures, just enveloped by love.  Therefore, be prepared to be utterly inspired by Melanie and Peter’s adventure…

Melanie & Peter

From a first date movie night to an exciting two years of building an incredible life together.  It was evident from the start that Melanie and Peter held a strong connection to each other.  Then add in an unforgettable marriage proposal at 13,000 feet atop Quandary Peak in Colorado where Peter asked Melanie for a lifetime of adventuring together.

In June of 2021, they had been engaged for 8 months and decided pandemic or not they were getting married in Iceland!  Meanwhile they were looking for an action packed, high energy, personal, secluded, and romantic day together.  So contacting our Iceland Wedding Planner team was a must to make their September Iceland elopement a reality!

Rainy Wedding Ceremony

The morning of September 14th 2021 began with bits of sun and rain.  But that’s the reality of getting married in Iceland, you always roll the dice on weather, no matter the season.  And you know they say rain on your wedding day is good luck!

One of our favorite Pastor’s performed Melanie and Peter’s  legal wedding ceremony.  But after Peter said his vows the sky let loose as soon as Melanie began hers!  However, the two just looked at each other and laughed their heads off!  Because what else can you do when nature deals you some fun,?

Well after they embraced the moment, Melanie continued to read what she could from her vow book despite the rain smearing it.  By the time the Pastor declared them married the kiss felt well earned after their rainy September Iceland elopement ceremony!

Half Day Elopement

Couples choose how much they want to adventure on their wedding day.  For example, in Melanie and Peter’s case, they opted in for a half-day September Iceland elopement.  And oh man did they have a freaking  FUN TIME playing in the rain together at this private property waterfall!  Also, when it rains this waterfall somehow becomes even more spectacular too!

Hiking & Eloping

Although rocking out your Iceland wedding day in a super jeep can be super badass.  Because it can get you into places other vehicles cannot, hiking together can really enhance your day too!  To illustrate, Melanie and Peter really embraced the idea of having an unforgettable trekking elopement!  The first location was a warm up for a much longer hike but it still came with stunning views to experience during their September Iceland elopement!

Large Wedding Waterfall in Iceland

To say waterfalls in Iceland are impressive is a serious under statement!  Regardless of the size or type each come with unique textures and their own story.  For example, the newlyweds spent a good chunk of time hiking to this wide glacier fed waterfall.  Being able to explore it both from the bottom and the top really puts how massive it was into perspective.  Gotta love moments that make you feel a part of something so much bigger!

Experience Driven Wedding Day

Everyone has a different definition of what adventure means to them.  For instance, some may believe getting dressed up and going around to different places for photos all day is an adventure.  Others may think taking a helicopter somewhere, ice climbing, canoeing, etc would be the definition.

Whereas, others like Peter and Melanie opt in for hiking and a five senses journey.  Which in turn is one of the backbones of our experience driven elopements.  To illustrate further, as soon the newlyweds arrive at the next location (which was a spring fed waterfall), Peter dove into the river for a refreshing drink!  Discovering this unique waterfall was thrilling as you’ll from these beautiful September Iceland elopement photos

Volcanic Waterfalls

Being the token land of “fire and ice,” what itinerary would be complete without combining the two during an September Iceland elopement?!  Basalt waterfalls can be found throughout many areas around Iceland and this private property one is one of our favorites!  Furthermore, sketchy hikes often offer the best rewards in regards to views and this spot is for sure one of those…
