But on October 29th, the couple struck gold with what locals lovingly call “window weather” aka “gluggaveður.” Which basically translates into clear, bright skies offering a short but stunning window of calm from the typical moody weather spells. October 29th Wedding with Guests
First, Ric and Jen chose to share their special day with a very small group of close friends and family who traveled from around the world to witness their intimate Iceland sunrise October wedding. Second, they chose to stay as an group at a luxury house in South Iceland. Third, the the pair decided to get ready separately in the house so they could embark on a first look together. Fourth, following the first look they exchanged day of gifts which were meaningful and extraordinary! Before they grabbed their go bags and loaded into the super jeep for the day, they all gathered together for some group photos!
Sunrise October Wedding Ceremony
After a stunning ride heading into the Icelandic highlands… Their Sunrise October Wedding ceremony took place just after dawn beside a private property Icelandic waterfall. As the sun painted the horizon, it bathed the ceremony in a lovely soft golden light while the river itself provided a natural soundtrack! How glorious and inspiring, right? The couple exchanged vows in this serene yet raw setting. Which likely felt like something out of a fairytale. Words that we heard the guests say where like… Intimate, emotional, and naturally breathtaking!

There, guests were treated to a gourmet catered dinner featuring hand picked tapas made from locally sourced ingredients. All served with heartfelt speeches and laughter under candlelight.

In conclusion, to cap off their unforgettable day, Ric and Jen honored the traditional Iceland wedding cake custom. Their kransakaka is a towering almond ring cake which is decorated with delicate details and served alongside hot chocolate, coffee, and champagne! It was a sweet, symbolic end to a beautifully adventurous day, and a perfect fusion of Icelandic culture and the couple’s personal love story.
