Pretty sure one of the most memorable ways to propose in Iceland is arriving to the location in style. Maybe for some it’s via a super jeep and for others a helicopter is the transport of choice. And for this groom to be, Angid, it was planning an unforgettable Iceland heli proposal paired with a luxury picnic!
December Proposal in Iceland
U.K. native Angid contacted our Iceland Wedding Planner team hoping to plan an Iceland heli proposal complete with pick up from the Blue Lagoon Retreat. However, volcano eruption kept the fabulous 5 star resort closed. Therefore, the Reykjavik Edition Hotel was next best. The good news though the original proposal location didn’t have to change, just the accommodation location.
Iceland Heli Proposal Details
December 16th 2023 was a nuts Iceland weather day. To illustrate, even the night before the Iceland heli proposal, we were only 85% sure that the helicopter would be able to get a weather window so our Iceland Proposal Planning team had a luxury SUV on standby. However, the stars aligned and our friends and Reykjavik Helicopters found the perfect window between blizzard-like conditions and got our fabulous couple to the proposal location!
Upon arriving to the lake the couple jumped out of the helicopter and all the romance begins… He leads her towards the cave and finds the perfect moment to profess his lifetime love! Talk about a perfect December date day, right?!

Following the dynamic moment of the Iceland heli proposal, the pair took a few minutes to enjoy the scenery, be in the moment, and call a few of their loved ones. Next, they allowed our wonderful Iceland proposal photographer to take some lakeside engagement photos. Luckily the weather still held out for them too on this December stormy day!
Savoring a Proposal Luxury Picnic
Now it was time to warm up and delight in a fabulous luxury proposal picnic! How fabulous they were able to have shelter by a wonderful natural cave too! Meanwhile, they were able to enjoy a delicious display of fruit, champagne, Icelandic cookies, and artisan chocolates! Alongside the coziness of the picnic setup which had fresh flowers, pillows, and blankets! Truly an ideal way to celebrate after their Iceland heli proposal!!
