Reykjanes Peninsula Honeymoon Session: Erin + Mark

The Reykjanes Peninsula is found in the most Southwestern tip of Iceland.  This is also where the international airport resides.  An abundance of geology, history and mystery awaits you there.  Additionally, it’s an area where there are tons of cultural and folklore stories too.  Furthermore, our Iceland Wedding Planner team even feels the area as being very “alive.”  Therefore it is an ideal place to explore during your honeymoon in Iceland!  Come along with us as we share with you Erin and Mark’s adventure…

Reykjanesviti Honeymoon Photos

Likely if you’re an avid reader of our Iceland Wedding Planner blog…  Then you know we are advocates of having a honeymoon session with a local elopement photographer.  To illustrate, it is forever pausing a thrilling moment in your life and a keepsake to look back on to recall.  Especially when you’re in Iceland discovering new landscapes and reveling in your newlywedded bliss!!

Erin and Mark held a traditional wedding at the historic The Inn at Centre Park in Reading, Pennsylvania in early September 2021.  Shortly after the newlyweds ran away to Iceland for an outdoorsy honeymoon filled with endless days of exploration!  However, due to the weather in Iceland, our original honeymoon photo session location in the Reykjanes Peninsula was fogged out.  Therefore, we activated our “plan b” location which was at a lower altitude, less gale force winds, and no fog!

Reykjanesviti is a lighthouse that also happens to be Iceland’s oldest.  And it’s pretty darn close to the newest volcano in Iceland to erupt (which is no longer erupting).  Closer to the ocean, are some extraordinary rock formations which set the scene for a fabulous Reykjanes Peninsula honeymoon session!  In fact, if you’re a lover of the Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga movie with Will Ferrell you will recognize the basalt rock form the opening song.

Valahnúkamöl Rock Formations in the Reykjanes Peninsula

Mark and Erin had a blast exploring the ravishing Reykjanes Peninsula coastline.  Seriously the perfect way to spend an afternoon… Hiking around the famed Valahnúkamöl rock formations and snuggling!  Plus the seaside cave is really striking in size and texture too.

In conclusion, we hope Erin and Mark’s Reykjanes honeymoon session inspires you to book something similar of your own!  Because having that incredible once in a lifetime keepsake really is important.  Especially if you are having a local wedding back home first too.  After all it’s a chance to bond further and have those photos be a part of your family history as well.  Feel free to contact us if you’re interested in booking your own unique honeymoon photo adventure!
