Krystal + Stoyan

Sometimes when you meet someone everything just clicks right into place.  This was especially true for Krystal and Stoyan back in 2012 when they first met in New York City.   Their passion for travel, dancing, camping, cats, and embarking on unique experiences solidified their uncanny connection.  Therefore, after moving across country and in together, a Big Sur proposal was the next milestone moment in their relationship!  She said yes and Iceland August waterfall wedding planning began!

Iceland Wedding with Guests

More than a year before their August 9th 2021 wedding date, these two soon to be newlyweds hired our Iceland Wedding Planner team.  Firstly, they realized that our team had the biggest, most interesting private locations and our attention to detail is unmatched.  To illustrate, they had been to Iceland previously in 2017, so it was important they did not end up at “tourist” locations.  Secondly, we specialize in custom South Iceland adventure weddings.  Thirdly, our extensive experience in planning weddings with guests was also important too since they anticipated about 40-60 people joining them.

Next, on their wish list was to have an August waterfall wedding.  Also to ensure their guests got to experience how they like to adventure together and that their jaws would drop at the unique sceneries!  Likely you’re curious how it all came together right?!  Well, the morning began super early in the Suite at Hotel Klaustur in Kirkjubæjarklaustur with our hair stylist and Iceland wedding photographer getting right to work!

Oh la la and photographing their thoughtful welcome bags and Krystal’s gorgeous wedding dress was first on the list.  The morning getting ready time flew by and it was quickly time to grab go bags and embark on their unforgettable adventure!  However, in staying with one piece of tradition, it was important to Stoyan to see Krystal for the first time when she walked down the aisle… Hello romance!  Thus, they were driven separately to the Iceland wedding location.

August Waterfall Wedding Ceremony

Stoyan and Krystal loved South Iceland during their last trip to Iceland as it was so abundantly rich with dynamic landscapes.  So it was a no brainer to find their way there again to show their 50+ the magic and beauty of the area too!  For example, when the guests arrived, they had a short hike to the private property August waterfall wedding ceremony.  Additionally, they instantly saw the sweet setup in front of the waterfall which wow’d them!

After Krystal’s father gave her away, they two were joined by Pastor Petur.  They held a inspirational and very personal ceremony where they shared personal stories, vows, and exchanged rings.  Once the waterfall wedding was complete, the group greeted the newlyweds and posed for group photos.

Canyon Exploration

Following their sunny August waterfall wedding and savoring the experience with their guests, these two got to adventure the canyon together!  All smiles, hand in hand they were truly radiating with love and happiness!!

Private Property Cave Lunch Experience

Meanwhile, it was drawing close to lunchtime so onto the next exciting experience on the agenda!  A toast, a traditional Icelandic hot dog in a private natural cave, some sweet dance moves, and discovery every inch inside and out with their Iceland wedding photographer.

Waterfalls, Mountains and Magic

In our opinion South Iceland is the richest in landscape diversity.  Meaning, you do not have to drive far in-between to see glaciers, waterfalls, black beaches, caves, canyons, or 360 degree mountain views.  Hence next on their August waterfall wedding agenda was discovering another that looked totally different than the last!

Basalt Rock Beach in Iceland

One location Krystal and Stoyan were looking forward to most was the private beach at Dyrhólaey sea arch.  Magic shines from this location no matter the weather.  But on this fabulous August waterfall wedding adventure there was an abundance of sun throughout the entire day.  Fair to say these two thoroughly savored every second of it too!

Reynisfjall Mountain Top

Nearby to the sea arch, is Reynisfjall cliff.  For instance, the views are endless and it is an ideal drone wedding photo spot as you’ll see below.  These two were enthralled with how “on top of the world” they felt with the 360 degree view after their August waterfall wedding locations.

Remote Private Waterfall Encounter

Last on their adventure wedding schedule was discovering one of our favorite waterfalls, ever!

Hotel Klaustur Wedding Reception

Lastly, their 10 hour adventure wedding part 1 drew to a close at 6pm.  Meanwhile, their guests had the opportunity to rest and refresh before being invited to partake in an deliciously fun Iceland wedding reception!  Our teams floral stylist crafted a beautiful eucalyptus table runner and decorated the cake of-so elegantly!  Their guests were welcomed to select a signature drink and asked to enjoy the following menu:

  1. Wild Mushroom Soup
  2. Lamb Carpaccio with rocket salad, dill oil, balsamic and blueberries
  3. Main Choice:
    – Sautee Potato Gnocchi with thyme, sage, red cabbage, roast celeriac grilled pear.
    – Blackened Champagne Honey Roast Cod with fennel 3 ways, and oxtail consommé.
    – Icelandic lamb in two ways with rack of lamb and confit shoulder, potatoes, moss gratin and bone marrow jus.
    – Chicken ballotin with lentils, lardons, capers, wood sorrels, and portwine jus.
  4. Naked carrot wedding cake with vanilla frosting.

Rounding out the end of their day, they laughed and danced until the early hours of the next day!  Feeling super inspired after seeing Krystal and Stoyan’s August waterfall wedding adventure?  If so, we would love to chat with you about crafting your very own unique adventure in Southern Iceland… Please contact us to get that epic adventure started!
