You’ll find this gorgeous peninsula about 2 hours northwest of downtown Reykjavik. It’s a lovely drive on Route 1. Along the way you will encounter the Hvalfjarðargöng Tunnel which is a 3 mile tunnel that allows you to cross 165 meters underwater. Before entering the tunnel, you will pay a toll that is approximately 1,000 ISK (~ $9 USD) one way. You will then stay on Route 1 until you reach the town of Borgarnes, where you will then take a left onto Route 54 which will lead you the rest of the way to the peninsula.

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula being such a fairy-tale location, is an exciting area to hold your Iceland destination wedding. It has endless unique places for Iceland wedding photos and romantic Iceland couples portraits. So what are the most fantastic spots in West Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula you should be sure to visit? Here are our personal Iceland Wedding Planner favorites (although not in any specific order):

• Snaefellsjökull National Park (Volcano / Glacier)
• Kirkjufell Mountain
• Kirkjufellsfoss Waterfall
• Fishing Villages: Ólafsvík, Grundarfjörður, Stykkishólmur and Búðardalur
• Arnarstapi Village
• Hellnar Church (Iceland Seaside Country Church)
• Eldborg Crater (The Fire Castle)
• Londrangar Basalt Cliffs (Sweet spot for puffin watching in the summer months)
• Djupalonssandur & Shipwreck Beach (where the ship wreck of the English Trawler Epine resides)
• Malarrifsviti Lighthouse
• Gatklettur Arch Rock (Near Arnarstapi village)

The best way to fully show the exceptional charm this area has is through photos… So that being said, please sit back, relax, and explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in winter with us!

From Iceland Wedding Planning to Destination Honeymoon…. We made the decision while planning our Iceland waterfall wedding this time last year that our wedding week (before and after we said I do) would be 100% devoted to our guests who had traveled so far.  That being said, it was very important that Chris and I still planned and went on a honeymoon that was just the two of us.  Well that time is finally upon us… time to take our honeymoon to Bali Indonesia!  Woohoo!

I promise, I will come back to share our gorgeous destination honeymoon images in a few weeks!  But in the meantime, please be patient for the silence you will see for the next few weeks.  If you are planning an Iceland destination wedding and need an Iceland wedding photographer or planning please send me an email and I will answer upon our return the week of November 26th!  So in the meantime… enjoy our fun fall session we did playing in the leaves!  Happy Fall, Winter, and Happy Thanksgiving!  Be safe all as we enter in a new season.

With a smile in Iceland wedding photography and planning!  – Ann
