One of the newest and most exciting hotels in Iceland right now is Hotel Stracta. You’ll find this marvelous hotel in Southern Iceland in the fabulous city of Hella, directly off of Route 1. The outside of the hotel boasts a very luxurious mansion like appearance, but don’t let that fool you… As soon as you step out of your car, you’ll still be instantly connected to nature! For example, the entrance way is filled with a lovely mix of moss and brick. Once you enter the front door of the hotel you will see a very natural Scandinavian design throughout the lounge sitting areas and you’ll feel right at home.
As you walk around the lobby space, you’ll find a well stocked bar ready to serve your every desire as you lounge on the lavish patio or within the café. In the bar space, you’ll find a sweet little sundries section that offers delicious desserts, juices, and sodas. Upstairs is the formal restaurant and dining area. The evening I stayed, I delighted in their traditional Icelandic Christmas dinner and it was delicious! Plenty of space to accommodate any group size large or small. Double doors open their way to a wonderful outdoor patio space. I instantly felt this would be a perfect spot to hold your Iceland wedding cocktail hour!
Now on to the amenities at Hotel Stracta… I’ll be honest and say that from the moment I arrived, I was crazy excited for their hot tubs and saunas! Seriously, I couldn’t get into my room fast enough to change! There are two hot tubs to choose from and they do offer protection from the wind as well so you’ll be able to enjoy no matter the weather outside. The saunas that you get to bask in, are the adorable cedar barrel kind and they are glorious after a long day of hiking!

When I made my visit to Hotel Stracta, I was lucky enough to stay in one of their Studio Cottages and it was quite possibly one of the best hotel rooms I have stayed at in Iceland! Plenty of space, comfy bed and bedding, towel warmer, Soley bath products, and a great little kitchenette! I wish I would have had more than one night to spend here, frankly.
